Our Walnut Street Website Is One Year Old!

Happy Birthday www.ourwalnutstreet.org!!!
Can you believe a year has gone by already? It seems like just yesterday Joanne and our family moved into the neighborhood. Its been three years next month…and now our neighborhood website is over a year old! Time flies.

We have come a long way in just a year. I hope you are taking the time to read the updates to the website. Recently added is the new Emergency Preparedness program being managed by our very own Kim Romig. Kim is doing a tremendous job and we should all be very thankful that she is taking on this role. There is a new POD system that she designed so please get familiar with it. This will be one of the topics of our next WS Watch meeting October 6th. I hope you all can make it.

In addition, I have added a new dynamic calendar to the website that allows you to select a specific date by year and month. This should now make our calendar more user friendly. I hope you like it.

*Looking for a great Alarm System For Your Home?

Dear Walnut Street Neighbor,

I am writing to tell you about my recent installation of a home alarm and control system and my experience with the company that provided it to me. With the recent home invasion/break-ins that have been experienced by some of our fellow residents over the past 8 months I began researching alarm companies and the security and control systems they offer. During my research another one of our neighbors was doing their own research and came across a company called FrontPoint Security (FPS), a distributor of the Alarm.com security solutions. This resident installed the FPS system and gave me a demo of the system one night. Needless to say I was highly impressed with the system’s ease-of-use, simple user-friendly installation and controls and their incorporation of the latest technology in security and total home control.

So I decided to give FrontPoint a call myself. The experience I had with Derek Snell, sales rep at FrontPoint, was wonderful. He worked tirelessly with me over the course of two weeks to helped me decide how to configure my system based on the budget and security needs I had. Once I had placed my order it was shipped to me overnight and by the next day I had installed my FPS system and tested it with no problems experienced. It was truly an amazing experience. Some of the special security items I installed required me working with a gentlemen by the name of Sean Kim who also was incredible to work with and answered all of my questions as well as configured my system and trained me on how to best use its features.

So why am I sharing this with you? Well, as your Block Captain, I take my responsibility to protect and inform our Walnut Street neighbors very seriously. It made sense to me that I should share my experience with you so you were aware of a great alarm company but also to share with you that I have been able to secure a special discount rate for those Walnut Street neighbors who are interested in purchasing their own FrontPoint Security system. It is for that reason I am including several links to the company’s website as well as some independant media links that speak to the FPS system so you can read it for yourself; don’t just take my word for it!

If you should find that this information is helpful and you are interested in taking the next step to call and order your own FPS system please let me know FIRST! I would like to provide you with my special code that is good for a discount at purchase as well as one month’s monitoring fee, free! It is because of our connected community and your participation in our Walnut Street Nieghborhood Watch program that I have been able to secure this special deal for the residents of Walnut Street. It is my hope that many, if not all, of our 55 homes will take advantage of this opportunity to secure their homes with the latest security and home control technology available. I am available to you, as well, if you would like to speak with me in person for more detail about my experience, FrontPoint Security or security in general. I can even offer to help install your system if needed…this system is that easy to install and configure.

FrontPoint Security can be reached at 1-866-ALARM30

Welcome New Walnut Street Neighbors!

I am excited to welcome Renee and Belinda who recently purchased 13702 (former Teevans Residence) and Steve and Alicia and their children Nayeli, and twin boys Elan and Gael (13621 Ray and Pia’s Rental Property).

I hope you all get to meet Renee and Belinda in person real soon. I have had the privelege of meeting Steve and Alicia and their beautiful family. I hope you all get to meet them real soon and show them the Walnut Street hospitality that we are famous for! Alicia told me that even before she decided to move to Walnut Street she checked out our website. The cool thing about that is she was able to read about our community and events and it really helped “seal the deal” for her and her family. I am so glad the website was a tool that helped Alicia!  Rene mentioned he and his wife also went to the website prior to purchasing their home to find out what Walnut Street was all about.

Renee/Belinda and Steve/Alicia - Don’t forget to provide your contact information on our Contact List so we can keep you informed of upcoming activities and announcements. Also if you get a chance and we haven’t stopped by your new place please don’t hesitate to stop by and introduce yourselves. We are at #13427. On behalf of my wife Joanne, myself, our immediate family and our extended Walnut Street family, we welcome you to the neighborhood. - Michael Ortiz

From the Webmaster

Its been a little long since I last updated the website but I have finally added some new items. You’ll notice that a new Walnut Street Kids event is taking place regularly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Thanks to Jennifer Hochadel for taking the initiative to get this event started and maintained! Jennifer tells me that she is getting a great response and turn out to this event.

I also updated the calendar area with both a November and December calendar. Let me know if you would like to add some information to it.

Finally I am trying out a new CHAT feature on the Contact List area to see if this might be beneficial to us. Please check it out and let me know if you feel it is a good tool to have.

I will try to be more diligent beginning next year with more regular updates to the site and to this blog. I trust you are sharing the website with your neighbors and hope you are taking the time to meet the new neighbors that have joined our Walnut Street family.

I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season this year and look forward to a wonderful new year on Walnut Street!

Michael - Block Captain and Webmaster
